Glow in the Dark Cats: Luminescent Hairballs

12.13.2007 @ 12:06 AM in Technology
Glowing Kittehs Cloning animals that glow in the dark for sake of "medical research" is an old excuse. Just admit its frickin cool and get on with it. Scientists from Gyeongsang National University in South Korea have successfully cloned two kittens (ok four, but two died from birth via cesarean section) with a manipulated fluorescence protein gene. These Turkish Angora glowpuffs are also the first cats to be cloned with that type of gene. The scientist claim that the  kittens who are now a year old are breakthroughs because making shit glow has something to do with curing diseases, and could lead to the ability to reproduce diseases in cloned animals that humans suffer from.  Sure, so why do they glow again?  Oh yea, cause its frickin awesome.
