Podawhaffacast #2

Offishally called the Podawhaffacast, I’m back and mumbley as ever, but now I have a co-host cohort, Angel. There were a lot of technical difficulties with this one, mainly audio tracking and the camera popped a bit out of frame, and its a huge file because I couldn’t edit it with the camera we used… regardless, Its a pretty tight show.

Latina’s Foodland will be closing its doors for good on Saturday, ending what was just under two years of service to the downtown Elmwood region. Monday, customers were greeted with a sign notifying of reduced hours and the eventual shutdown after business on Saturday.

I knew it was happening, we all kinda did. I took this picture in the middle of March, fed up with finding the aisles half empty week after week. we (the customers) kept asking if they were closing, but we’d get the same lame excuse that shipments were hard to get in…

I guess I can go to Wilson Farms for the basics… and if needed.. I could take the bus to Target, or even Tops… but a lot of people in the area can’t travel that far and depend on Latina’s…

But it can’t be helped… the store will be closed, and yet another shell will mark the block for some time to come… the question is how long before we get a new grocery again?

Triumphs meaning: I was up before twelve, ate breakfast, walked down Elmwood, did laundry, and paired two like souls together for a convo.

The weather was incredible, even though its raining now as I speak; Angel and I spent literally the whole day on Elmwood, shopping, tasting the local fair and learning the hard way that being a hippie is hard work. Angel also took a lot of pictures of me…

Be Buffawhat’s Neighbor, And Possibly Housemate!

Do you love me so much that stalking just isn’t enough… ever wish for the opportunity to collect my toenail clippings to complete your shrine to my glory? Or perhaps you are looking for a way to kill me in my sleep, and wear my face like a halloween mask…

Well, completing any of these tasks could get a hell of a lot easier with the Nickel City Co-op now accepting applications for housemates in July-August.

Located perfectly on the corner of North and Elmwood, the Granger Mansion was designed by E.B Green at the turn of the century.  Inside, you’ll find the hard work of dozens of housemates, past and present; the restored mansion shows life from every person involved.

Living in the house brings a sense of community, belonging, and is simply the hippest place to live on Elmwood. I’ve been a neighbor of this fine establishment for almost a year. I was quite suprised to find that inside, the walls were not made of tufo, yet the people were made of soul.  Through community involvement and local partnerships with food-growers and suppliers, living in the co-op is also benefits area you live in as well.

Stop by sometime, open potlucks are every wednesday starting at 7pm. I hope to be moving from the crack house to the co-op this summer. Be my neighbor, or be my housemate, either way check it out.

My First time eating from chinese kitchen on elmwood near Latinas… Its the closest food place to me… However my GI tract always made me hesitant… We shall see in 2 hours if I was right

UPDATE!!! - My stomach survived, however the General Tso’s ( I get that as a test of how good the place is) sauce resembled slime… maybe a prop from one of those Sigourney Weaver movies. Walking into the place itself smelt like an old locker room, and the fried rice carried the smell to my table as well.   Hopefully… Kirky Boy will get a hankering for some good Chinese at work and we can partake in the ritualistic Wednesday MSG imbibment.

Picking a gym

I going to join a gym.

I need to shed the “twink,” and I have a $300 gym credit from Univera to burn. Plus, when I get home from work, there is absolutely nothing to do but sit at my window watching people walk down Elmwood as I pet my delightfully obese black cat. I have two gym choices, and they are about as different as can be.

Option #1 - Allentown Athletix

Location: Delaware and Allen, Buffalo

Distance: 0.4mi (a jog, or an easy trumpfh through snow)

Membership price: ~$76, after the 300 reimbursement and a 15% off first time offer.

Equipment: Weight room, cardio room, circuit room (no idea, but I saw pulleys), A few multi-use rooms, two racquetball and squash courts, Hottub/sauna, decent locker facilities.

Pros: Allentown Athletix is obviously more queer-client
