Talking Urinal?

02.16.2007 @ 3:50 PM in Technology

Buffalo Pundit mentioned on his blog about the new “smart idea” to introduce motion sensing urinal cakes that audibly remind us men to get a cab home when we may have had too many.

“I don’t know about you, but I think I would be somewhat startled by that and probably do something that would make the janitorial staff of that particular establishment hate me and the talking urinal cake.”

Now Pundit, just imagine if the urinal in question was one of these…

barm_ibiza.jpglkiss1.jpg

Yes, these exist, and no they are not modeled after Mick Jagger. Sold by Bathroom Mania, they’ve been slowly popping up all over the world and making men even more urinal shy since 2005. And yes, Buffalo has a couple sets of lips for you to uh… use, if you should feel so brave at Marcellas Showclub and Lounge on Pearl by Shea’s. I work there, and it funny watching the first reactions in the men’s room. Not that I hang out in the men’s room… thats only at Buddies II.

Now imagine, those lips, coupled with the smooth talking urinal cakes… I wouldn’t be suprised either that that happens at Marcellas too, as nutted up as our owner is.

Boys Night Out!

02.13.2007 @ 4:51 PM in Lifestream

Last Night, I had the most wonderful Boys Night Out. I don’t think I actually ever had one before… Jen, we must have a girls night out sometime too.

Angel, Lorenzo and I went to Shea’s Performing Art Center to see the hilarious Kathy Griffin. We were so excited, and plans were to stop by Laughlin’s before for dinner and cocktails. However, Liberty Cab made us wait about 30 minutes for a cab that never showed up (actually, they called us an hour later when we were in Sheas, saying they had arrived to pick us up). We ended up taking Buffalo Taxi, but only had time for cocktails.

Kathy had us crying from laughter and doubling over for the hour and a half that she was on. Most of her show was new stuff, ranging from Paula Abdul’s crackhead charm bracelets to fisting George Bush and “spinning him around like a barstool.”

I think about half the queers in Buffalo were present; we wanted to kidnap Kathy and drag her to Cathode for Big Ass Drink Night. But, we would have had to find a dyke for her assistant Jessica (she’s bisexual now apparently) and lesbians just don’t mix with Quart Margaritas.

Anna Nicole Dies, Just Like Her Son Did.

02.09.2007 @ 1:37 PM in Lifestream

I actually found out from the Buffalo Beast Rss, which came out of an XML Hibernation to bring me this news…

annanicolesmith.jpg
[Anna Nicole Smith 1967-2007]

Anna had been dealing with severe depression, taking a lot of drugs, and basically giving up on life. This all spurred from Anna’s inability to get over the loss of her then 20 year old son who died from an apparent drug overdose.

Anna was found in her room unconscious Thursday, at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Seminole. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

I don’t think it was suicide, or at least a deliberate attempt. I feel Anna just got tired of hanging around, and when you add drugs, more drugs, and a splash of drugs… you die.

Fancy a Farmer? You bet I do…

01.30.2007 @ 7:42 PM in Lifestream

I found this story as I was going over the Buffalo News with my participants today…

“Five single farmers – three men and two women – have become an overnight sensation in Wales by putting their photos on thousands of plastic milk containers on grocery shelves. Their “Fancy a Farmer?” stickers also list a Web site, www.pishynwales.com, where potential suitors can get in touch with them.”

SOTU Meetup Wrapup

01.24.2007 @ 4:07 PM in Buffalo

Never before would I have thought I’d ever be in a bar drinking a beer and listening to the President’s every word. Well, that’s what took place last night at WNY Coalition for Progresses’ 2nd Annual State Of The Union Watch Party held at the politically nostalgic Founding Fathers Pub.

I played my fist game of Buzzword Bingo (SOTU style, and the reason for the intent listening) and won! We had to find words like “Nucleur/Nucular”, “fear”, “Shia/Shiite”, and of course “God.” A couple words never mentioned were North Korea, Robert Gates, Baghdad.

I finally got to match faces with some of the WNY Media bloggers: Big Daddy Watchdog, Buffalopundit, Elly, and Red. Elly was the first to nab me out of the crowd, it helps when I carry around my bag. She’s the sweetest girl in person and I even got her in a Snap!

I met Red next, and we hung out and chatted for most of the night… he was lots of fun to talk to as we both made fun of the Condi Growl (you had to have watched the speech)… Thanks for the ride home, too! Pundit was on top of his stuff, and we chatted a bit. I, of course, had to talk geek with Watchdog, and the Buffalo Beast even came to the show (with free Beasties too! ).

Oh, Channel 4 and 7 were present snapping up a story. Pundit has links to their video… Red, I think we escaped the limelight, although Elly wasn’t so lucky!

Jen… where ever were you?

While participating in the CAC mugswap, I was fortunate enough to get to send a little bit of mug goodness to a Californian blogger with a Buffalonian husband. I just HAD to send some pride back…. here’s the pic she snapped when she unwrapped:

I was told the Fowler’s Chocolate Buffalo Wings were devoured shortly after.

New WNYmedia Blogger… platform to come!

01.14.2007 @ 7:08 PM in Buffalo

I’ve been privileged enough to be asked to join the WNY Media family of bloggers. My mirror link is buffawhat.wnymedia.net and my feed can be seen from the main page… I guess that means I have to get to business.
When I first started Buffawhat, I immediately noticed the network and realized what a presence that they captured in Buffalo.

Jake Gyllenhaal Belts out Dreamgirls for his gay fans.

I need to start watching SNL again.

YouTube Preview Image

Aired last night on NBC with Jake Gyllenhaal hosting. I bet all the Buffalo drag queens were throwing pringles and jumping up and down when they saw this… Fanny.. I know were.

Halfway through his monologue, Jake tears off his suit to reveal a glimmery black evening dress, and sings his little heart out to Dreamgirls… complete with backup dancers.
