A Big Happy Anniversary to my boys Andy and Steve! They are celebrating six years of fur-flying togetherness. I challenge any couple, hetero or homo, to match how much these guys love each other.
Now get your asses back to Buffalo soon boys. We miss you guys.
Grumpybear calls him the godfather, I call him a homewrecker (long story, but I still love him). Either way, Xotec is the man (Pronownce it Ex-o-tech). Once of the forefather Dj's from Buffalo, Xotec spends his time spinning in Rochester with monthly jaunts down to Marcella's (he was here last week). It's really hard to say what he does, some days its house, sometimes its trance, sometimes its rock-trip-commercial-hardcore. X does what he likes and its always freakin gold... see for yourself:

- Ishkur's Review
I'm an idiot on three parts:
- I forget that despite my claims to being counter-culture to the queer norm, I really am a big homo who enjoys musical theater.
- I drudgingly walk past Studio Arena on my way to work at Marcella's. I neglect to realize that a robust theater community has made their home in Buffalo.
- I waited till the end to see "Bat Boy: the Musical." - Out of my disdain for supermarket tabloids, poorly photoshopped "anomalies," and pop culture kitchfests, I didn't give it a fair chance... until the lights went out and the opening number blew me the fuck away.
Bat Boy in its regional premiere came to Studio Arena by way of Musicalfare, and sadly is no longer playing. I saw it in its closing weekend, last Friday. If Mike [Sawicz] had told me of the handsome bearish actors, or about the "woodland orgy," I'd have been there opening night.

To say the show was hilarious is disrespectful. "Bat Boy" was a genius concoction of witty storyline, spot on casting, and clever props, blended together by a powerful rock score.
“Ripped from the headlines of The Weekly World News, Bat Boy The Musical is a classic love story with a serious bite. This delicious twist on the modern day musical comedy tells the amazing story of a strange boy with pointy ears, his struggle to find a place in a world that shuns him, and the love that can create both miracles and madness.” --from www.batboy.co.uk
The story wasn't original, I've seen a million shows and movies, after school specials highlighting the importance of being accepted for who you are. What makes "Bat Boy" so remarkable is that it was told with as much spoof and absurdity as humanly possible. Edgar, a mysterious boy with pointed ears and fanged teeth, found in a cave in West Virginia, and taken in by the town's veterinarian family, much to the dissaproval of the town. In "My Fair Lady Fashion," Edgar learns to speak and is cultured, thanks to BBC tapes, and soon longs for the respect of the town. What he doesn't know is his twisted past, a past that some are eager to keep covered up; even if it means killing a few people.
I have to say, the woodland orgy scene was one of the most fulfilling moments of the show, and my evening. I actually missed parts of the scene as I was too busy oggling the handsome and talented Philip Farugia (shame he's married, but god what a voice he has) in sweaty wifebeater, fur kilt, and bear mask getting it on with a badger and a deer. It was also good to see the equally talented Marc Sacco, who I've only heard of and had yet to see him in action.
As for the rest of the performers, I had no idea that Buffalo had so many great voices. I can't single out anyone else (I'm new to this, remember?), and it would be biased to filter out just the handsome bears in the cast. Perhaps when I see a few more shows I can get specific.
I'm really hoping the success of "Bat Boy: the Musical" brings it to stage once more. It was a refreshing bite of cult-culture
[new phrase, so bite it grammar nazi's] I've been missing out on.

I was all for this umbrella in the beginning. Its super clever and innovative: water collects from a funnel in the top and drains down into a reservoir to provide steady ammo for the water pistol handle. Sounds like a great way to engage in a little sidewalk mischief during an afternoon shower. You stay dry, your victim gets it.
One flaw: I don't know anyone in Buffalo who enjoys walking in a rainshower. Here, I swear it pours sideways. Umbrellas are kinda useless, and to top off your mood from being caught in a shower, some playful fellow goes "bang!" "bang!" with his cute little water pistol umbrella. I'll let you guess what happens to Mr. playful with the pistol umbrella.
I guess in a more passive city (like
Laredo, TX?), it might work. Either way, this is a cool design, and t should be made with the quickness.. just maybe not for sale in Buffalo, eh?
Here's a little video I found featuring Buffalo's own Bear icon, Kendall. This is one of Kendall's best songs, "
Very catchy" and features some of the Buffalo Bears.Kendall is currently touring with Bears on the Run and from what I've heard, its been a great success and they are having a blast.

a bit of info from Bears On The Run
Over the last few years, outlets like Bear Radio Network, Bearapalooza and WoobieBearMusic, along with a host of supportive bear runs, bars and - most recently - podcasts, have given Bear musicians, songwriters and performers a place to share their talents. This fall, six performers will head out in a van for the first ever Bear tour which will span 12 cities and 7 states including Texas, Georgia, Ohio, Illinois, Missouri and Oklahoma.
The tour is called BEARS ON THE RUN and showcases the talents of Bobaloo (a comedian from L.A.), Kendall (a songwriter/performance artist from Buffalo N.Y.), Matthew Temple (a folk singer/songwriter from Nashville, T.N.), Nakia (a Blues singer/songwriter from Austin, T.X.), Elijah Black (a rock singer/songwriter from Akron, OH) and Shannon Grady (a singer/songwriter from Minneapolis, M.N.). Along for the ride will be two videographers who will capture performances as well as life backstage and on the road to be edited into a documentary.
The tour's founder Shannon Grady (a singer and co-host of the popular podcast bTALK) hopes that the tour will grow and open up doors for other Bear artists and find new audiences for their work.

Can we guess the mistake in this picture? The colder it gets, the more of these fuzzy abominations pop up... And then it snows. Whoever designed fuzzy boots never thought that dumb girls in buffalo would actually wear them in snow, slush, and even rain.

i don't know if I'll ever be able to experience that pure juvenile experience of dressing up and knocking up on folks' doors, mischievously chanting "trick or treat" and holding my bag for impending cavity catalysts.
A good southern baptist boy as a kid we had "harvest festivals," which were a mimic trap for conservative families to escape their children from a national joy. Sure, i bobbed for apples, came home with a sack of sweets, and got to dress up, but I was either David from the Bible, or some impotent pop culture figure sanitized for religious consumption.
Now that I'm grown, Halloween is the earliest Saturday and we still dress up, not to scare but to impress our friends and a panel of bar owners. A trick means we got laid, and a treat is we woke up in our own beds.
Sunday we shower and wash the glitter out of our hair, read the text messages from those whose fates weren't so fortunate as ours ( a friend of mine SMS SOS'd after finding himself cracked out and lost on Main street after leaving his friend's place where he vomited on 65% of the dwelling), and relate the evenings triumph's and dissapointments.
We pass the rest of the days till the the real Halloween comes and goes, tired and jaded from our preemptive strike into debauchery that we scoff at others for enjoying a history unaffected by our previous actions.
i guess I really am kinda jaded. I just want some wax teeth and a few crushed butterfingers bars, is that too much to ask?
Hey guys... I'm trying my hardest to get back in the swing of things... I have another blog to write for so now I have to mix up the content between both... expect the stuff at WNYM to be more news/techy.. while the stuff here will get a bit more of the personal gizz... i'll have a special feed soon that combines both though it ya'll should so desire....
Hot Bears

This weekend, I finally got to meet
Steve and
Andy, one of the hottest bear couples I've ever seen. It was Steve's 37th birthday and they came down to Buffalo from Cleveland to spend night ruckusing it up with the bears at Buddies II.. I got my bear hugs in and birthday smooches and we all ended up at Towne for some late night eats and innapropriate food jokes. I only wish Grumpybear was able to ditch the nipplegetter long enough to join us...
CSS
I got more of the theme switched over to my tastes and got the snap page and contact page styled over to the new look. I made a cute little sending animation to let you know the ajax is doing its thing.
Try it Out!
1408
Eric wanted to see a movie last night; and the Dispon downtown is closest to us. Only problem is that a lot of local kids go and tend to cause a ruckus. Lets just say I'm not going there on a Saturday night to see a horror movie again. 1408 was that kind of deep horror that makes you wonder how its going to end and then get dissapointed the ending was happy. Starring John Cusack and Samual L "Snakes on a Motherfuckin Plane" Jackons, 1408 is about a certain hotel who's haunted room by the title's name kills every overnighter after the first hour. Great visuals, but the plot was the same, stay strong, flip out, super twist, more crazy, get revenge on evil room. Still, go see it.
