My good bear buddy Yosiell Lorenzo (AKA ProjectDetonate) never disappoints whenever he drops some new work in my inbox. Right now he has a limited number of Gliclee prints available based off of his “Listen Buddy! I’m in charge here” painting. They are printed on 8″x8″ Velvet fine art paper (270 gsm) and are available at his shop for $25.00 shipped within the US. They are hand signed and numbered with certificate of authenticity. Oh yea, there’s only 16 of ‘em, so pick one up quick. Do it, and check out the rest of his wares on BigCartel, the very gangster equivalent of Etsy.

update 10/16 – WHOA!!! Yosiell sold out in less than 24hrs… nice.
I was wondering what Jack White was doing these days… apparently a part of the new group The Dead Weather, formed from Alison Mosshart (of The Kills), guitarist Dean Fertita (of Queens of the Stone Age) and bassist Jack Lawrence (of The Raconteurs and The Greenhornes), and Jack of course. “Treat Me Like Your Mother” is their latest single and the video was directed by the legendary Jonathan Glazer. I wonder who gave the go for this, or does a Glazer video mean that its ok to have guns in a music video?
I love small form sculpture. Small can go on your desk, small doesn’t cost a fortune, and small is endearing. Partially why I love vinyl so much is because it fits those three criteria. Occasionally, I’ll come across something that isn’t vinyl, yet I get the urge to have it next to my kaiju. This week its the Santatsugamas, from Eva Funderburgh, sister of pattern and wallpaper designer Dan Funderburgh.
Toothy movement study – Playful,
Woodfired Porcelain;
4″ x 2.5″ x 3″,
For sale for $150
I have no idea what “Santatsugamas” means, but probably something like “creepy cuddly” or “hard and fuzzy” would do. Eva makes these sometimes-teethed creatures out of wood-fired porcelain, giving them a naturally earthy tone. Eva wanted to be a Marine Biologist growing up, and you can totally see her love for ocean creatures referenced in her work.
Group shot of gliders,
2008, woodfired porcelains,
up to 4″ x 4″ x 3″
If you are in the NYC area, you can see her pieces in the “Endangered” Exhibit at the Gloria Kennedy Gallery till the end of February. For those on the other end of the States, she’s also at the CVG Show in Bremerton, Washington till the end of February as well. I’m also excited whenever artists let you get a peek at their process, and below is a timelapse video of her at work. Music is from the Anime “Paprika,” FTW.
Check out the rest of Eva’s work on her flickr page. Its amazing.

What would you get if you sent artists all over the world a wooden blank like this and ask them to create what they thought a Schaffas would be? You might get back a myriad of characters as unique as the name…

So, whadayhell is a Schaffas anyway?
The International Fauna Dossier describes a schaffas (Marcum-Schaffidius) as a gentle and un-aspiring creature of great mystery. This exhibition will demonstrate the various and complex forms that the schaffas adopts.
SCREAMDANCE, Adelaideans Sam Barratt & Chris Edser, have hand-picked art-friends from all over the world to customize their own breed of schaffas. They were each sent a similar blank shape and given free reign to add, subtract, paint or destroy these objects. The response was inspiring with a wide variety of styles and approaches covered.
THis one, while not very elaborate, is awsome. YArrrgh!

Charlie Sorrel from Gadget Lab was visiting the Berlin’s Hamburger Bahnhof Museum and this caught his eye just before he left. He has this to say: Its Huge.
