I’m afraid my January laziness has spilt over into February. I haven’t got
much done for work, but they are all "extra projects" that I should be
getting paid a lot more to do. Therefore, I’m feigning oppression. #snap
I love small form sculpture. Small can go on your desk, small doesn’t cost a fortune, and small is endearing. Partially why I love vinyl so much is because it fits those three criteria. Occasionally, I’ll come across something that isn’t vinyl, yet I get the urge to have it next to my kaiju. This week its the Santatsugamas, from Eva Funderburgh, sister of pattern and wallpaper designer Dan Funderburgh.

I have no idea what “Santatsugamas” means, but probably something like “creepy cuddly” or “hard and fuzzy” would do. Eva makes these sometimes-teethed creatures out of wood-fired porcelain, giving them a naturally earthy tone. Eva wanted to be a Marine Biologist growing up, and you can totally see her love for ocean creatures referenced in her work.

If you are in the NYC area, you can see her pieces in the “Endangered” Exhibit at the Gloria Kennedy Gallery till the end of February. For those on the other end of the States, she’s also at the CVG Show in Bremerton, Washington till the end of February as well. I’m also excited whenever artists let you get a peek at their process, and below is a timelapse video of her at work. Music is from the Anime “Paprika,” FTW.
Check out the rest of Eva’s work on her flickr page. Its amazing.

Eric Osborne was this "tag artist" who spent his college years at Buffalo
State bombing and scratching the fucktarded "Meth" name onto nearly every
wall and mirror in Buffalo. He was arrested in 2006 and landed himself in
jail for 90 days. While he admited responsibilty for nearly 100 tags, his
tag can be found anywhere in the Buffalo area. His stupidity is part of my
Buffalo tour. This #snap was taken at AMF Airport Lanes, in Cheetowaga.
I’m sure most of you know me, this is my blog after all. And if you read enough pages, you’ll start to feel like a dirty stalker. However, most people who read The Bilerico Project, a big LGBT blog that I’ve been asked to contribute from time to time, do not know me at all. That’s why Father Tony was kind enough to tag me for the “Better Know a Contributor” segment.
Here are the questions…
