Snap! -

With Jays new job, he’s got a later work schedule, so we get up together, and go to Starbucks together, before he drops me off at the bus stop. What little bit of conversation we can muster in the mornings is special and gives me an extra boost fer my day.

The can of worms that the iPad opened

02.07.2010 @ 7:30 PM in Bilerico

I'm very much torn with the iPad. I don't know whether to qualify it as a superpowered iPod Touch on growth hormones, or to call it an underdeveloped tablet trying to be the next best thing. In either case, the iPad will change the direction of tablet devices... some good, and some really bad.

BuffaFace: Sunshine Scowl Edition

BuffaFace: Sunshine Scowl Edition

I’m a squinter, part of the reason my eye sight is going, and part of the
reason I always look so grumpy or pissed off. In the mornings I walk around
with a general scowl, partly to dissuade random morning small talk, and
partly because my love for humanity kicks in at 10am, and not a minute
sooner.

On days like today, the Sun is shining brightly against a cold blue sky…
my squints look extra hardcore. But I’m actually cheery today… blind but
cheery.

These Are the Androids You’re Looking For

02.02.2010 @ 6:49 PM in Culture

Google has kept a loose eye on their Android mascot, applying a creative commons license to the little guy, allowing artists and fans to go wild with their creations… I’ve seen little bits of schwag here and there, but nothing compares to the complete set of awesomeness that Andrew Bell cooked up…

One of the secret projects that has been keeping me busy lately. I teamed up with some friends at Android™ to bring their mascot to “life”. Head on over to the Dyzplastic production blog for details![Andrew Bell's Blog]

Created in collaboration with Google and Android Andrew Bell, and produced by Dyzplastic Production, this is the first official blind box series featuring everyone’s favorite open source mascot.  Series 1 features 12 different designs in a case of 16 and each vinyl figure stands just 3″ tall. There’s no word on pricing or exactly when these will drop, but a splash page on the Dead Zebra site shows “02:10:20:10″ which leads me to believe they go on sale at DZ on the tenth of February.

DKE Toys are the wholesale distributor for the series, one of Hero Design’s sources for vinyl crack; I should be able to sweet talk them into ordering a case or three.

Put some class in your Valentine’s Day (and get laid doing it!)

01.28.2010 @ 2:00 PM in Bilerico

I admit, I don't think much of Valentine's Day. Maybe it's because of all the cheap perforated valentines you can pick up at any drug store, nohearts.jpgand the not so delicious bone-meal conversation hearts that float around my office every year.

The problem with holidays is that there is absolutely no class anymore, and the 14th of February is no exception. Some couples go all out, and others pass cheap chocolate and try a new position...

Regardless, hidden behind the jump are some tacky-free solutions to guarantee at least two new positions that night. (Don't worry single folk... most of these tips work for you as well, just find someone(s) to lay "the bid'ness on.")

Gay Geeks Roundup: Helping Haiti, Marc Jacob Mixtapes, and that iTablet thingy

01.24.2010 @ 7:00 PM in Bilerico

Notice that Gay Geeks has been oddly silent since Christmas? Here's what happened.

I was walking down the street a few days before New Years when I saw a stray puppy in the street. Naturally the hero-type, I ran into the streets to save the poor little lab when I was nearly hit by a black van who swerved to miss me. Maybe they just should have run me over because they kidnapped me and locked me in a dungeon strapped to a chair with my eyes glued open and forced me to watch hours upon hours of doomed-to-fail Fox pilots, like Warlosky, Back to You, The Winner, and most recently Human Target.

Just kidding... I've actually been super lazy and had my head in the clouds since Christmas. I promise you two things: Gay Geeks is back, and Human Target really did suck.

Today's Episode: You can spend your money to help Haiti, or you could spend it on an old school USB hub from Marc Jacobs... but you really should be saving it all for the iTablet.

Hero Design Valentine Card Variety Packs

01.18.2010 @ 5:43 PM in Buffalo

I’m really liking that Mark and Beth, the love bird designer duo that is Hero Design, are branching off new products, like these valentines cards. 4 unique designs handprinted in house on a 5″ x 5″ square single panel card, that is blank on the back. three cards each of all four designs… that’s 12 cards for $24 dollars. Its time to grow up guys, no more Scooby Doo cards, no silly boxes of sweethearts and a cheap box of chocolate… this year give these cards and booze. If the cards aren’t enough to melt your lay, then you can always get ‘em drunk.
Buy them at the Hero Design’s webstore, Etsy, or stop by Hero and Sound at 93 Allen st, Buffalo, NY. Click through the jump for closeups of all 4 designs.
