WANT: Lego Mini Fig Flashlight

08.11.2009 @ 2:00 PM in Culture
wizard I was a Lego kid. from 8-15, my floor was littered with bricks, nearly all the time. I was also one of those anal Lego kids (ahem), with all my bricks separated by class, color, and shape. But I digress... one of the coolest Lego's I ever had was a Wizard key-chain that I got for being in the pilot program for the original Mindstorms set. I lost him about 3 years ago, but I think I've found a replacement. Play.com is accepting pre-orders for these incredible mini fig flashlights! Available as a 7" dynamo powered LED flashlight, or a more reasonable 2.75" battery powered LED flashlight key-chain, for £13.99 ($23 US) and £5.49 ($9 US), respectively. dynamo minifig They're is also a headlamp version (WTF) and a girl edition, but you can bet yer sweet Aunt Bippy I'm gonna own one of these. Maybe even two. (via Gizmodo)

BuffaFace: Sunny Grumpies

BuffaFace: Sunny Grumpies

Alright, I'm not really grumpy... I don't get grumpy in the morning, I get snarky. I suppose that's worse but thank god it wears off by midday. My co-workers call it "Nasty Nate." How they can distinguish this from my usual piss and vinegar I'll never know. At least its a beautiful day. #snap

The IT Crowd: 6 awesome items.

08.10.2009 @ 11:50 PM in Technology
Just started watching this new show from BBC called "The IT Crowd." Netflix recommended it, and I'm always for a tragically geeky comedy. Fricken awesome. If you often get stuck fixing your friends computers, have a hot shop job doing IT, or make monthly visits to fix your mom's Acer, this show will rock. Take a look at this screenshot: ITCROWD highlighted are:
  1. Camel Poster? Looks like from an O'Reilly Book. And every geek knows O'Reilly is the word of God.
  2. Stupid Magnets. Even geeks fall prey to motivational magnets, most of the time they are motivating because they promote Viagara, Pain Pills, or something angsty and bitter.
  3. Archaic Microsoft Software Reference Guide - It really took a book that thick to just get though half of the shit crammed into Windows 95. They make good bookends nowadays.
  4. Lava Lamp. So I have a USB radioactive glowing sheep, but face it: geeks love things that light up.
  5. Flying Spaghetti Monster. A Farce that went to far, if you don't know what a pastafarian is, you should probably google that. And last but not least...
  6. VINYL!!! - Mad'ls to be exact. Whether wacky toys, expensive vinyl toys (guilty!!), or some beat up G.I. Joes, geeks are kids are heart... and in mind... And in humor.
MADLITCROWD And if this doesn't convince you of the awesomeness of this show... it was created by the same guy who did The Office (BBC thank you).

KidRobot x Futurama Mini Figures: Sal is a chase

08.07.2009 @ 6:06 PM in Culture
Futurama mini Figures I can't go into Hero and think I won't buy anything, especially when such a bad ass series like Futurama just dropped from the KidRobot heavens.  And while I glimsped a peek at one of the chases (Slurms McKenzie), the jury was still out on what the second chase was. Today's meander into Hero and Design Studio and Boutique was fortuitous; I snagged the second chase, who is none other than Sal. I feel pretty gangster, but a litle bummed that Hermes or Proffessor Farnswuth, or Kiff didn't make the series. Maybe there will be a second series... I can think of 12 more characters I want to see. For now, I've managed to snag Sal.... Futurama mini Figures-5 Morbo the Annihilator... Futurama mini Figures-2 Nibbler  ( I love the chicken but his Dark Matter Poo would have been the most awesome of accessories)...Futurama mini Figures-1 And Phillip J. Fry.Futurama mini Figures-4Sal is pretty sweet lookin, love his Bachelor Chow (pretty detailed graphic). I've got full size pics on flickr. Check it.

Hot Bear du Jour: cliche tattoo edition

Whenever I see a guy with a "Mom" tattoo on his arm, I wonder if he's really a mamma's boy or just got the weekely special at "ye ole tatoo place." Either way, he was hot in that bald, beefy, if-he-catches-me-staring-at-him-he-might-shoot-me sorta way. #snap

T-Mobile 3G arrives in Buffalo: there goes my battery.

08.06.2009 @ 7:30 PM in Technology
3G Buffalo My G1 totin buddy Ethan Cox told me yesterday that his wife was getting T-mobile 3G bars over at Buffalo General Hospital. He didn't have it, and a glance down at my device let me know I didn't either. Today I was gallivanting about in Williamsville when 3G lit up for the first time. it kept kicking in and out then dropped to edge when I came in to Lancaster/Depew. Arriving home I'm back in the warm and battery draining embrace of 3G. This is right on schedule too. The MyTouch was just released, and August was about when I said it would turn on so I'm pretty happy.
