Oh Hai! I write a blog, you are reading it... I think. I live in Buffalo, NY, and am a big ole homo geek. That means that most of the posts and articles here are either geeky, queer, or Buffalo related. If you don't like any of those things, go back to myspace, and post a bulletin about it. - Nathan Strang

Just what I get for not even wanting to go overboard with the Dunnys; I get the complete set on release night.

Of course, it took a whole lot of vinyl karma and some serious trading skills, but that’s what its all about. I swear I love this more than going to the casino.

Hands down, the absolute winner for the best Dunny in S5 is Frank Kozik. Every millimeter is custom molded perfection. Definitely worth it for a 1:100. Jesse LeDoux has a real beard attachment FTW, and MISHKA’s eyeball accessory won for most detailed prop. Most elusive tonight, was the JMGS/jellyman clusterfuck. At 1:50, I only picked it up after a 2 for 1 Dunny trade at the end. It was the last fig to check off my list.

JK5 was the Mist of this series; I originally opened 5 but traded down to 3. TooFly was also a major dupe, but like SecretLab from the French Series, its pretty bad ass so I managed to trade it down from 4 to 2. MAD had a lot of accessories for being a 2:25, and I wish Amanda Vissell wasn’t a 2:25 rutge but im happy with a dupe.

One thing I noticed was that some Dunnys came in clear bags, while others came wrapped in foil. I wonder if this has anything to do with the after production smudging that happened in the past and sent everyone in a tirade.

I must give major thanks to Hero Design for the best Dunny release party yet; even though it wasn’t as packed I had the most fun. Thank Beth and Mark. #snap

Its gonna be a party, and as much as I’m almost burnt out on the Dunny platform, i’ll be there snatching up the goodies. As I become more knowledgeable in the Designer/Vinyl toy realm, I start to get more excited about the individual customs. Series 4 I was a complete dummy; in this cycle I’m amped for Amanda Vissel, Frank Kozik, Huck Gee, DevilRobots, Jesse LeDoux, and of course, MISHKA.

I wear a lot of MISHKA, thanks to the boys at Krudmart keeping me in stock. The MISHKA Dunny is the first second (see below) for the NYC fashion label, and to celebrate, they are selling 25 custom Bear Mopped autographed Skunk Ape Dunnys from their online store.

I of course, just bought one, but I’m anxious to get another; keeping the collectors pack in mint condition.

[Update: Not ten minutes after posting this, does MISHKA comment and remind me that they actually had a figure in Series 3, "My Pal the Crook." This goes to show how much I paid attention to S3. Either way, totally stoked and essited. Way to go MISHKA! ]

Last November, I posted about Polaroid’s leap back into instant photo gratification with POGO, an ultra-portable photo printer using zero ink technology from Zink. I was pretty stoked about the device; I was big fan of Polaroid back in the day and recently I’ve been looking for a decent method to print out some mobile pictures.

Time goes by and the POGO falls off my radar… that is until I walked into Target today and noticed it was on sale for $129 (original price, $149)! The desire for instant gratification struck instantly. I instantly had to have it and instantly marched to the camera counter. Instantly purchasing it, my compadres and I (we were on a post GBC breakfast excursion) instantly headed back to the car.

I instantly started to free my overpriced photo printer from its cardboard cage welcoming it into my loving realm of mobile gadgetra. Immediately inspecting the instructions, I installed the battery and paper pack; it instantly spit out the paper calibration “smart sheet.” And then it instantly died.

First gripe: put a charge in the battery for Christ’s sake. I know we all are supposed to charge a full 2-24 hours before stuff works, but no one ever does and most everything else has at least half a charge on purchase (ipod, phone, camera…).

With my efforts dashed to justify the purchase with my compadres by showing them the awesome power of instant gratification, I eventually made my way to my office to plug the damned thing in. Eventually, I unraveled the power block and extension cord; the POGO prints while plugged in, but this is a mobile gadget and meant to be carted around in a messenger bag. the construction is solid and metally. I’d say it weighs about a pound, but feels very study. The thing was expensive enough; it better weigh a ton.

On to printing. I tested the pogo with the gamut of photo sources, all routed from my phones bluetooth; you can connect to a digital camera with a USB cable as long as you have a PictBridge enabled camera. First picture was one I took of kirk, taken with my T-Mobile Shadow in a lot of sunlight; it came out well enough. Then, I emailed a few pictures from Scranto’s flickr to my phone and printed them out with more stunning results. The colors were full and bright, and the resolution crisp. At 2×3 inches per photo, you won’t have to worry that much about mobile phone resolution; anything over a mega pixel will look just fine printed from the POGO.

Since a lot of my BuffaViews and Snaps are in B/W, I printed out skylar from my previous post, and Lafeyette Square from the post before. Since the ZINK technology isn’t CYMK but rather CMY, the b/w photos had a slight blue hue, which I don’t seem to mind at all.

If you really enjoy having hard copies of your mobile photos, then this printer is for you. I wouldn’t recommend this for someone with a shitty camera phone, or a Verizon anything, since VZW cripples bluetooth so that it can only pair with a headset.

I made this magnet back when I was good with my hands, back when I had nothing better to do than stay up late and watch TV. Meatwad is my cartoon idol, and naturally I was stoked when Adult Swim and KidRobot did a collabo. Of course, the stoked smoldered to a pile of smokey nothing when I learned there was no meatwad figure. But really who cares; I had already made the best figure 4 years ago.

Thanks to Scranto for taking the picture for me; he craftily came into possession of it a couple months ago and hung it in his cubicle at work.
