My favorite fall activity is walking around Deleware park and the japanese gardens, photographing the beautiful people of Buffalo amongst the Olmstead parks colorful foliage.
I grew up in Batavia – but my wife is from the Ithaca region. My new favorite autumn activity is to take trips down to Ithaca to visit family and hike the state parks. Treman, Buttermilk, and Taughannock Falls are beautiful that time of year, and nothing finishes the trip off better than freshed pressed cider from Hollenbeck’s Cider Mill. Can’t forget the fresh donuts either!
The best thing to do in Autumn, for me anyways, is to go to a lot of the church events. In Cheektowaga there’s a catholic church that has a halloween-jesus event. Including jesus-theme’d pumpkin carving, and a wonderful “hell house” play. It gives some good humor to Halloween. They event teach people about not wearing “revealing halloween” costumes, as if haha.
man, I love that print, it is so danish modern
In Albany during the fall, I love to hit the orchards for cider and dougnuts or even traditionally made english style cider (read booze) and take a spin to Thatcher Park and walk along the streams and have a cider, dougnut, and some hot chocolate on a picnic table just enjoying the leaves and the grey skies with just a few friends. I love that day even more when I remember to put something in the slower cooker for when I get home.
well given that i live in dallas, texas, we don’t really get to experience fall the way most other places do. however, i still love the season as its finally not so damn hot. a perfect fall day would consist of walking the dog or going for a bike ride around white rock lake. then grilling dinner in the back yard with the neighbors. maybe throwing the football around a bit and sharing a bottle of red wine. then heading to bed with the windows open. there’s nothing like falling asleep to the sounds of the night.
In the fall, I used to go with My Father and my Grandparents to a Cidermill in Boston, NY. Every year we would make a trip or two to get cider, candy apples, and crazy little knick knacks.
The old ciderpress always amazed me, and it was fun to watch it in motion as it clanked and chugged along. The press itself had somewhat of a wonder, as you could only see small parts of its inner workings through holes in the barn it was housed in. I would make up stories with my cousins as to its origins, being built by ancient creatures and such.
It was fun to be in the mill store with apples all over the place, pumpkins, jams, and the whole nine. When I return to the same place, year after year… I still feel rush of excitement to see all the wood, and steel, and nature, which serves as a great escape from all the technology, and the fast paced blah blah blah of everyday life.
Going to the cider mill on transit and getting cider slushies and homemade maple walnut donuts!
Fall is my favorite season. I don’t like being too hot or too cold and wearing a hoodie and jeans and a cute pair of flats is what it’s all about. My favorite fall activity is probably riding bikes. I know a lot of people reserve that for a favorite summer pastime, but not me! (again, it comes with the not being too hot thing!) I enjoy the satisfying crunch under my pink bicycles tires and the way the colors inspire more thought than any other season to me. In the daylight it’s nice to listen to my iPod (fall always makes me wantto listen to Modest Mouse and Neutral Milk Hotel) and cruise around town, and at night I enjoy biking with others and talking about spooky things. :)
This print is beautiful! But I wouldn’t expect anything less than that from Beth.
